Gregory Mayes recently joined Wakefield Reutlinger's sales team. He first obtained his real estate sales associate license in 1976 and later served for almost 38 years as the Managing Broker of Pettyjohn Real Estate, Inc., a Louisville based real estate firm engaged in the sale and/or lease of residential and commercial real estate.

 

In addition, Greg has practiced law for approximately 32 years. Over the past 16 years, he was a member of the law firms of Greenebaum Doll & McDonald, PLLC and Middleton Reutlinger, PSC. His practice has included providing legal services and assistance to a variety of private and public, not for profit and for profit business clients in all aspects of business, corporate, government and regulatory law, real estate and finance. He has been recognized by his peers for outstanding achievements in the areas of real estate and corporate law; examples include Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA. 

 

Prior to reentering private practice, Greg was the first in-house general counsel for Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC), the state housing finance agency, with complete legal oversight for all of KHC’s operational and corporate matters. He continued to represent KHC as its outside special counsel while in private practice.

 

Greg is a graduate of the University of Louisville securing an undergraduate degree in political science in 1978. In addition to his juris doctorate obtained from the Brandeis School of Law, University of Louisville, he also received his LLM in taxation from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.

 

Greg also currently serves on the boards of directors of several civic and community based organizations, including Norton Healthcare, Inc. and Uspiritus, Inc. He previously served as a member of the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity of Metro Louisville, Inc., The Coalition for the Homeless, Inc., Wellspring and the Louisville Forum. He has been recognized by The Housing Foundation and Leadership Louisville for outstanding community service. He is also a member of the Leadership Kentucky Class of 1995.

 

Greg resides in Louisville with his wife, Karen. They have two adult boys, Gregory, Jr. and Morgan, both of whom are following their father's interest in the law. Greg enjoys volunteering, spending time at his home at Rough River and following UL sports.
